Objective: Create a system for visually identifying the chemistry of various types of batteries randomly loaded on a conveyor belt. Identified batteries of certain chemistries will be flagged for removal by human or robotic sorters. System should recognize battery chemistry with a high degree of accuracy and include a method for easily retraining on new or unknown batteries.
Solution: A single overhead camera setup connected to an IntelSight controller, with an additional standalone training station for capturing data about previously unrecognized batteries.
Status: Proof-of-concept is under development.
Future: Test proof-of-concept on real-world samples from a battery recycling facility.
